Me and my boy

One of our favorites places to go is the cabin.  And at the cabin, this spot is one of our favorite.  The colors were truly amazing.  Here’s a link to a bigger pic…

Ummm…why?

From a Fox News story:

“Susan Rice, one of Obama’s top foreign policy advisers, says the U.S. should give 0.7 percent of its Gross Domestic Product to developing nations.”

Can someone tell me why we should give anything more than we already do?  We already contribute more than any other country to these types of programs and are still criticized around the world.  I say we go back to isolationism prior to the world wars.

Sounds like they need to go back to school to learn what “Christian” means

Apparently a mormon student wasn’t able to join a Christian fraternity because of his religious affiliations. We all need to contact this “Christian” fraternity and enlighten them on what Mormons, or members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints really stand for.  Go to their site and make sure to send them an email.

Utah legislators suck us dry…

There’s an article on ksl.com about the gas prices. Not news worthy, since oil barrel prices are dropping fast, but the pump prices are remaining well above the national averages. In the comments section, one of the readers brings some interesting information to light. Here is their comment on the board:

“The problem with the sticky gas prices is largely due to a bit of 1981 legislation called the “Utah Motor Fuel Marketing Act.” This law essentially makes it illegal for a station to lower its gas prices significantly faster than surrounding competition, resulting in prices that are able to speedily increase, but decrease at a snail’s pace.

While facing the exact same issue in 2006, Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff addressed the Business and Labor Interim Committee, and suggested that this act be allowed to sunset. He felt that it was “harmful to the consumer.” Instead, the committee voted to extend the act for five years. That’s not the half of it, however. The minutes for this committee meeting reveal the supporters who spoke in favor of extending the act:

http://www.le.utah.gov/Interim/2006/html/00001806.htm

You might recognize some of the names: John Hill, Lee Peacock. These are the same petroleum industry executives who have made recent statements regarding Utah’s gas prices - misleading statements, suggesting ignorance as to why the prices remain high, and are historically slow to come down.

These individuals know exactly what’s going on, and their involvement makes that clear.

The Utah Motor Fuel Marketing Act needs to be repealed, plain and simple. Contact your elected officials, and let them know what you think.”

Here’s a link to the meeting minutes. Hurry, before they pull them down!

Meeting Minutes

Contact your local legislators and make them earn their positions and compensations! This is bull! Gov. Huntsman sucks until he fixes this.

Oprah’s a hypocrite!

Just goes to show ya, Oprah is a fraud.  She may be entertaining, but she has an agenda.  She’s all smoke and mirrors I tell ya!  Check this out…

Update: She has confirmed she is a hypocrite.  On Drudge, she states that she made the decision to not use her show as a political platform.  Well, what did you do when you had NoBama on?  Sure, you’ll allow him to cast his wonderful countenance on all of America, but not the other side, who happens to be a woman, which happens to be your target demographic!  What a hypocrite!  On Drudge…

Auto-playing media on websites

So I was just visiting a blog of a friend while listening to something else.  Their blog has music automatically playing when visiting their site.  Numerous blogs do this, same with many sites I go to like espn.com, yankees.com, etc. I can’t stand it when I go to a site and something starts to play without me telling it to play. It’s so annoying.  And it doesn’t help when the music sucks!  So please, stop auto-playing anything. Let me click play.  It doesn’t make your site more enjoyable.

So, this is a compilation video of a trip we took to the cabin in March of 2008. It was a great trip. I am still working on the dvd version, uncompressed.

John’s big catch

John’s whale of a halibut was the highlight of the trip. Well, that and the girls jumping off the restaurant! (which should be up shortly :)).
